An Introduction
Summit is a town like no other. It really does have it all. Magnificent, classic homes, excellent schools, the much sought after train to Manhattan and one of the largest and thriving downtowns in the area. Named for its location atop the second Watchung Mountain it is bordered by Millburn, Chatham, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Mountainside and Springfield.
There are 9 public schools and 5 private schools. Arts and culture abound with The Summit Playhouse, The Dreamcatcher Repertory Theater and the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. Outdoor spaces include the Watchung Reservation, Briant Park and the Reeves Reed Arboretum. Many residents enjoy ice skating, fishing, picnicking, fitness trails and nature. There is a nine hole municipal golf course that sits on land that was rumored to be used by George Washington during the Revolutionary War.
Summit is 10 miles from Newark Airport.
And let’s talk about that downtown. Fabulous restaurants – a lot of them, amazing shopping – a lot of it, businesses, services and pretty much anything you could want is in Summit.
